From the "Pandemonium / Antibodies" series.
Artist: Raymond Bugelski
The term pandemonium is a compound word formed by joining the Greek words “pan” and “demonious” meaning ‘a place or abode of all demons. Thanks to the pandemic the world now shares the same address in hell.
The notion of an uninhibited creative psyche is the modus operandi for the bulk of my artwork. I have employed this psychic technique as an apparatus for understanding the enigmas of existence. Recently I embarked on an explorative excursion of the unconscious, tasked with the arduous mission of finding meaning in the awfulness that is the pandemic.
The customary glut of unconscious compositions, unplanned amalgamations and unreal deformations was not what materialized. No mind jarring juxtapositions with suggested symbolism here, rather an abstraction of intuitive shapes and minimal color palates contained within the constructs of a rudimentary but very exacting set of aesthetic ordinances. Pure simplification, not what I desired but definitely what was necessary.
There's no denying the hope that beauty inflicts upon a misanthropic world, enabling humankind to perceive things anew.
